I then met guitarist John Scofield. We performed just a couple of club dates in New York, did a European Tour and recorded an album for ENJA Records entitled "Roughhouse". It was a very nice band which

included Hal Galper, Adam Nussbaum,
John and myself.

In 1978 I recorded
my second album as
a leader, in London,
at Basing Studios.
It is titled The Stafford James Ensemble and
is on the Red Records label. The other musician are Frank Strozier, Harold Mabern and Louis Hayes. Some of the titles performed were
1) Softly as in morning Sunrise, 2) Yellow Days, 3) Twelve for Four,
4)
Del Samba,
5) Soul Eyes.

1984 Woody, Ronnie Burrage, Kirk Lightsey and Steve Turre
