The instrumentation has stayed the same with Don Alias replacing "Anga" Diaz and Jeff Boudreaux from New Orleans replacing Ronnie Burrage. The group has done a number of tours including such countries as Germany, Belgium, Italy, Austria and France. In Austria there was both a master-class at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and a concert, as well as television. 1998 saw the group perform at the 12th Annual Bass and Drum Festival at St. Ingbert, Germany. Also in 1998 I was blessed to be the recipient of the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship. This Fellowship has enabled me to start work on a new work for contrabass with orchestra that will be premiered in May of 2000 in Linz, Austria. It's a work that will last for 2 hours. Again, I would like to thank the Civitella Ranieri Center panel as well as Mr. Gordon Knox, Ms Cecilia Galiena, Madame Ursula Corning and all involved for a very "life-invigorating" experience that enabled me

Austria 1998, Stafford James Project - live:
Don Alias(percussions), Marc Abrams(bass),
Jeff Boudreaux(drums).

to meet very interesting people from all parts of the world and to share in the total creative experience.

In the spring of 1999 the Stafford James Project with special guests Buster Williams, Don Alias and Jeff Boudreaux will tour in Italy, Switzerland, Holland and Germany. There will also be a fall tour with the quartet and for the spring of 2000, the group will tour as a quartet as well as performing with orchestra in different cities.

Lastly, I would like to thank a lot of people for helping to make this web-site a reality:
Claudine James, Veronique Bodin, Nicolas Contreras.
